Chewing the fat, flying a Kite
I've been putting some lovely builds together in readiness both for tomorrow's demo day at Head for the Hills in Surrey and for forthcoming events and races. A couple of those I'm especially pleased with are this fat front Swift and a very tidy singlespeed Kite. I'll have both these bikes and a host of very nice others available for demo there.
The 'half fat' Swift is a bit of an experiment having ridden a couple of fat bikes now. I've got thoughts on possibilities for a trail oriented full-fat frame, so this is another step to get my head around the front end handling characteristics of fat wheels. So far it looks like this is going to be great fun as it is.
The Kite is also a build I'm really pleased with. I've had those wheels built for about 18 months waiting to go on the right SS 'cross build. Finally it's here; the Reflex CD rims, Paul SS rear hub and high flange front, black DT rev's got shod with some Challenge Grifo file tread tubulars, parts bins got raided and a few new bits of finishing kit were ordered and they were all thrown at a L Kite frame. The result so far seems very pleasing.
Looking forward to a great day tomorrow - just keeping fingers crossed for the weather!
